Born in 1868 as Rollh bei Lauf.

Attracted to Schopenhauer’s philosophy and became a close friend of Dr. Paul Deussen and began to study Buddhism. After retirement from Supreme Court Bench, spend remaining 37 years of life on study, practice and propagation of Buddhism in Germany. Formed Old Buddhist Community (1921) in Bavaria.
